How Bird Buddy unlocked peak season growth with faster inventory flow

The Brand
Bird Buddy is a nature-tech brand making it easier and a lot more fun for people to connect with the wildlife right outside their window. Founded in 2020, Bird Buddy creates smart feeders and cameras that use AI to identify and capture photos of birds and pollinators, blending innovative technology with the simple joy of backyard birdwatching.

Challenge
20,000 units. Zero sellable stock.
At the height of peak season in 2024, Bird Buddy had over 20,000 units sitting in Amazon receiving and unavailable for sale. Despite strong demand, the company was losing revenue daily because of inbound bottlenecks outside of its control. Bird Buddy’s business is highly seasonal, with more than half of annual sales concentrated in a short window between mid-November and December 20, making inventory timing especially critical. Even with careful planning and product ready to go, Bird Buddy could not get inventory into sellable stock. The result was lost revenue, increased operational strain, and limited visibility into when inventory would become available. It was clear a new approach was needed.
Solution
The fulfillment shift that made peak season possible
After discovering Pattern, Bird Buddy partnered with the team to rethink its Amazon fulfillment strategy. At first, the speed seemed almost too good to be true. But by routing inventory through Pattern’s fulfillment network, Bird Buddy was able to move inventory into Amazon in days instead of weeks. Even while managing large inbound volumes, including 16 high-cube 40-foot containers, Pattern’s team kept everything moving with smooth coordination and quick turnaround.

“I have to admit, I was kind of thinking, "that sounds too good to be true. But very quickly, all of us realized Pattern knows what they're talking about. I didn't have to take a single Amazon-related meeting in the late evening during this big season. All the inventory was there, we had zero worries.”

From reactive to reliable
The impact was immediate, transforming Bird Buddy’s supply chain from reactive and high-risk to stable and predictable during peak season. Faster inventory flow into Amazon eliminated inbound delays and enabled consistent in-stock levels when demand was highest, reducing lost sales and improving overall performance. By shifting inbound logistics and coordination to Pattern, the team reduced operational complexity and freed up time to focus on higher-priority initiatives instead of managing escalations. For the first time, Bird Buddy was able to execute through peak season without disruption, confidently meeting demand without the operational strain experienced in previous years. With a strong operational foundation in place, Bird Buddy is exploring additional opportunities with Pattern, including returns management and reverse logistics.
