The Brand

Founded in 1949, Golf Pride transformed the game by pioneering the first slip‑on rubber grip, replacing leather to redefine feel, control, and confidence in every swing. More than 75 years later, Golf Pride is the #1 grip in golf worldwide. Trusted by weekend amateurs and clubhouse legends alike, over 80% of PGA Tour players rely on Golf Pride when precision matters most.

Operating from its Global Innovation Center in Pinehurst, North Carolina, the brand continues to advance grips as  performance equipment through world‑class engineering and uncompromising quality. That same commitment to confidence extends beyond the course as Golf Pride aims to deliver a shopping experience as trusted, consistent, and performance‑driven as the grips themselves.

Challenge

Reading the green - Aligning with the modern golfer buying journey

The modern golfer doesn't just play differently, they shop differently. Today's players are researching and buying equipment online, and they expect brands to meet them there with a premium, frictionless experience. For Golf Pride, the opportunity wasn't simply to show up on Amazon. It was to show up well  thoughtfully tailoring their assortment, content, and digital presence so their on-course leadership translated into a premium shopping journey.

But the digital marketplace doesn't hand out birdies. Golf Pride faced some real hurdles:

  • They needed to launch on Amazon with a consumer-first strategy designed around intuitive discovery, clear decision-making, and long-term growth.
  • They sought to simplify navigation across a catalog of 400+ SKUs, helping golfers easily identify the right grip technology without overwhelming them or relying excessively on paid media.
  • They needed precise forecasting and inventory planning to maintain consistent availability during peak seasons, eliminating friction caused by out-of-stocks.
  • They aimed to maintain a cohesive brand presence across every touchpoint, reinforcing trust and credibility—including securing and retaining the Buy Box to protect the consumer experience.

The goal wasn't just to enter a digital marketplace. It was to create an experience that lived up to the performance Golf Pride grips are known for.

Solution

Architecting pro-level shopping experiences on marketplaces

To help golfers confidently choose the right grip for their game, Golf Pride partnered with Pattern to thoughtfully tailor its product presentation, merchandising strategy, and operational execution for the digital shelf. Together, they implemented a comprehensive, full-funnel approach designed to remove friction and elevate the consumer journey:

  • Intuitive Merchandising & Simplified Navigation: Pattern restructured 400+ product variations into clean, streamlined parent listings so golfers could navigate grip models, sizes, and colors without a second guess. Recognizing real purchase behavior, Pattern also introduced 3, 8, and 13-pack options — aligning with how golfers actually shop, whether they're replacing a few clubs or regripping the whole bag. Less decision fatigue. More convenience at checkout.
  • Content Driven by the Customer's Voice: Pattern produced over 1,000 high-quality images that showcased craftsmanship, performance, and technical differentiation — giving every product listing the visual story it deserved. Going a step further, Pattern supported the generation of over 130K customer reviews and used Content Brief technology to extract key insights from them to directly enhance conversion and SEO. By proactively answering the exact questions real golfers were asking, they refined A+ content and the Brand Store to guide decision-making and create confidence at every step.
  • Precision Forecasting for Consistent Availability: A seamless experience requires reliability. Pattern aligned forecasting with peak spring and summer demand, ensuring top-selling grips remained consistently in stock. By minimizing out-of-stocks during high-traffic periods, Golf Pride protected both revenue and consumer trust.
  • Experience-Protecting Advertising with Destiny: Pattern deployed its patented adtech platform, Destiny, to intelligently support visibility while safeguarding the shopper experience. With 65% of spend automated, Destiny executed millions of real-time bid adjustments, including inventory-aware bidding that automatically reduced or paused spend if a specific grip was running low on stock. This protected the consumer experience by reducing the chances of a poor experience.
  • Seamless Product Launches: As Golf Pride continues to debut new and innovative products, Pattern built a repeatable launch playbook that aligns inventory arrivals, updated merchandising, and early advertising, so new grips hit the market with immediate momentum and golfers can access the latest technology from day one. No cold starts. Just clean launches.
  • Expert Collaboration & Agile Execution: The best tech is only as good as the people behind it. Pattern's dedicated ecommerce experts work as a true extension of Golf Pride's team — tight feedback loops, integrated working sessions, automated systems paired with hands-on problem solving. That kind of trust doesn't just feel good. It gives brands the confidence to make bolder moves and invest in long-term growth.

At Golf Pride, our aim is to inspire golfers with a feeling of confidence in every swing. As Global DTC lead, my priority is making sure that feeling begins the moment they meet our brand online. As an extension of our team, Pattern helped us create clearer storytelling and consistent presence so customers can choose their grips with confidence and carry it on to the course. That premium, authentic brand experience has translated into real momentum and growth for our brand.
